There’s lots of money to be made all season long in hockey and here’s a few profitable ways to make it during the regular season.

1:  Money line Dogs

Just like in baseball don’t shy away from taking a underdog on the money line.  If your taking favorites all the time, they don’t always win and if your paying -140 on a favorite it can eat at your bankroll if they lose.  If you have a home team underdog here look at leaning to take them straight up to win.

2:  Long Winning streaks

One profitable theory I use here is if a team is on say a 7 game winning streak,  instead of betting every time you think they are going to lose all you have to do is wait until they lose.  What?? ya just wait until they lose and take them to LOSE the next game after.  This works out well during the season because there’s always teams that have winning streaks.  The game after the winning is lost theory

3:  Long road trips

Every once in a while teams have to go out on the road for 6 or more games and that can be a lot of overcome especially for younger teams.  These trips are tough and can take it’s toll on the players near the end of them,  playing almost every other night can do that.  I look to fade the road team in the last game of their long road trip (6 or more games).  Also after these long road trips you usually get to take 3 or 4 days off which can be nice for the players to re-coup so I will look to take that team to WIN their next game at home.

4.  Rivalry games

These games are between teams like Toronto and Montreal, Pittsburgh and Washington.  I look to take the home team in these games as the crowd plays a factor and is more vocal during these types of games.  Because of the crowd the home team usually plays with more intensity and is more inclined then not to win.

5.  Afternoon UNDERS

This is one of my favorites, on Saturday and Sundays now the NHL is trying to attract more fans by putting afternoon games on.  For the players this doesn’t fit into their routine of getting up, spending time with the family/girlfriend,  going to work out, going for a skate with the team before the game etc.  No they have to play at 12 or just later in the afternoon so there is no time for practice and to stretch the legs enough before game time.  Teams don’t come out with their usual speed and the games go UNDER the total.

6.  Don’t get hung up on goal-tending match-ups

This relates to baseball and pitching match ups as well.  Same concept here, don’t overreact to what goalies are in net each night.  Goalies have off nights all the time and back ups can perform.  You pay a big price if you take a team with a “Tuukka Rask” in net so do your homework and remember point 1,  don’t shy away from the underdog.

7.  Scheduling

What I look for just like in the NBA is teams that are on a tail end of a back-to-back and playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and the move gets more attention if it’s their 4th game in 6 nights.  The very odd time you get a 5th game in 6 nights spot and if you do I look to amplify that move and fade the team in a spot like that.  You must always be attentive to team’s schedules.
