September is just around the corner, the best of months for most of us as FOOTBALL is finally here!!  Most bettors have returned after a summer of relaxing and ready to fire at anything and everything.  They have pockets full of hard earned cash and come in with guns a blazing.  Mistake #1.  Really September football betting should be bet with caution.  Most gamblers rush into September letting their stack ride on one game.  Mistake #2.  Set yourself up a bankroll, doesn’t matter what size it is $200, $500 or $2000.  Early on it’s easy to get ahead of yourself and have more than what you want on the table at once.  Mistake #3.  Control your unit sizes and don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose.  Wagering sizes I suggest should be 2-5% of your bankroll not 50%-75% of it.  Long term success will come with having a plan and controlling your unit sizes.  Scared money don’t make money is something you have probably heard of before. Mistake #4, I don’t believe in this saying, it was probably made up by the sportbooks that want your money.  Smart money makes money is what I believe.  You don’t want to put yourself in a hole early on in the football season.  All the hype is here football is getting closer, everyday you see a tweet on twitter with how many days are left to kickoff in NFL and NCAAF, just be smart and don’t let all the hype make you make the wrong decisions with your hard earned money.

Betting Tip: September betting can be hard sometimes because there are basically no emotional letdowns in the first four weeks.  By October, November and December you will see more letdowns and upsets across the board because early on no one is mentally or physically tired.

NFL preseason money making situations

Many amateurs see the preseason as meaningless exhibition games, but the “smart money” see dollar signs (even with lower preseason limits, there is money to be made) because if you have done your homework and know the teams inside and out, this can benefit the experienced bettor.  There is a reason limits are lower early on, the sportbooks are afraid to lose.

NFL preseason for the players is about getting physically conditioned, developing chemistry/timing and learning the offensive/defensive gameplans.  The stars get rested, especially early on, and most do not go all out in risk of an injury.  Coaches try new plays and players out every game and it’s hard to predict what that team is going to do.  Understanding what the goals are for each team, can increase your bankroll early on.

Do not bet the team bet the number.

Explanation: Your team from last season could be a totally different team with new players via free agency, new coaching staff etc. You have to remember the oddsmakers are smarter than you and me and do not make mistakes.  If your favorite team was a powerhouse last year and during the offseason decided to trade away some star players and they are an underdog to what was a weaker team last season.  There is a reason why they would be an underdog, hence betting with the number in a situation like that.  If you think the wrong team is favored there is a reason why and I will lean to a situation like that.  This is my favorite preseason money making situation I look for.

Sportbooks are vulnerable during NFL preseason, hence lower limits and this makes this time of year a great time to add to your bankrolls for the upcoming CFB and NFL regular seasons.  Do your homework and put in the time and it will be worth your while.

Good luck this upcoming season and make every ticket a winning one with drocksports.com
