Started off my NHL season with a loser last night as a scoreless 3rd period in Nashville allowed that game to stay below the 5.5 total. I’m back on the ice with two Premium selections tonight , but for my free play it’s off the the NLCS as the Giants try to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

In any seven-game series Game 4 is almost always a pivotal one (the exception being a team up 3-0) as it can swing the series drastically in favor of the team up 2-1 or get it back to level with a 2-2 series heading into Game 5. Needless to say, teams play with a lot of nerves and excitement in these games and with defense being the thing they can control best, it’s usually the defense that steps up in these contests.

Tonight’s pitching matchup wouldn’t suggest a low-scoring matchup to many with Miller and Vogelsong toting the rubber, but I expect both starters to be sharp tonight and not see a crooked number go up early on them like we saw the Giants do yesterday. With this being a night game again, that cold damp air off the west coast will prohibit the ball from flying all over the yard and both managers won’t hesitate to go to their bullpens early to get out of a jam.

This is almost a must-win game for the Red Birds and when that’s the case they have turned to their defense and pitching all season long. St Louis had the most shutouts in the league this year and while I don’t think they’ll be able to blank the Giants, this game as 2-1 or 3-2 written all over it.
