Managed to keep the momentum going last night with my two free plays as they did split with a 1-1 mark, but my top play on the Red Sox was once again a winner. This Toronto team is one or two more losses away from completely turning on each other and completely sinking, so it will be interesting to see how they perform in the coming days with the Yankees coming to town after this series. Toronto comes in as favorites again tonight and although I said I’d be fading the Jays a lot the rest of the way, tonight’s not one of those games. I happy to collect my two wins with Boston from this series and move elsewhere on the board because I actually believe Toronto’s got enough fight left in them to pull out a W and give their remaining hopeful fans a little longer to believe.
I’m going elsewhere on the MLB board tonight so let’s get right to the free plays.

Chicago Cubs ML (+150) $300 to win $450
The Cincinnati Reds are the NL version of the Toronto Blue Jays. A team that had high hopes entering the year, had a few good stretches at times, hurt by injuries, and now watching their season slip right out from under them. The Reds are almost resigned to their fate of missing the playoffs once again and just like the Jays will be a great ‘fade’ team the rest of the way. Cincy is on a 2-8 SU run right now and an 0-7 SU run against division opponents as they are just playing some bad baseball right now and shouldn’t even be considered as heavy favorites.
Compare that to a young Cubs team who are looking to finish the season strong and get all the W’s they can. Chicago knew they weren’t going to be playoff contenders this year, but their young studs (Rizzo, Baez, Castro) have made significant strides in their games and will be the lynchpins of this Chicago team going forward. They are riding a four-game win streak right now and will get the W again tonight.
Arizona ML (+197) $200 to win $394
Kershaw is always going to get plenty of love from the betting public, but he’s had his issues with the D-Backs in the past. The Dodgers are only 3-7 SU in Kershaw’s last 10 starts against Arizona and that includes an 18-7 drubbing he took (1.2 innings pitched) on this field earlier this year. In fact, L.A is 0-4 SU in Kershaw’s last four road games at Chase Field (they did win a road game vs. Arizona in Australia this year), and given that the D-Backs are a last place team many look to fade, there is tremendous value in this play tonight.
