It’s been a brutal 0-5 start to the week with my free plays as I just can’t seem to cash one right now. That’s alright though as streaks (good and bad) can turn in a heartbeat and after a lot of work was put into today’s research, I’m confident I’ll be coming out ahead with these plays tonight.

All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts ‘to win’ on favorites and flat on underdogs.

The Tigers are still feeling the affects of that 19-inning loss to Toronto on Sunday as they’ve called up Buck Farmer to make his first MLB start tonight after scheduled starter Rick Porcello was forced to go a few innings late in that Toronto game. Farmer will be in tough against a Pittsburgh lineup that’s scoring a lot of runs these days as they have to keep pace with everyone else (except the Cubs) in the NL Central. The young rookie could have some success first time through the order, but after that it’ll be rough – if he even gets to that point.

The Tigers hitters know the predicament they are in after losing four in a row and need to give Farmer all the help they can. They do have some history with Vance Worley from his time with the Twins and everyone in this lineup who’s faced him before has had success – except Miguel Cabrera. I don’t think you have to worry about Cabrera eventually hitting a guy, and with his supporting cast sporting strong numbers, I like the Tigers chances of putting up some runs tonight.

Chicago Cubs ML (+112) $300 to win $336

Milwaukee is a huge public play tonight with nearly 90% of the action coming in on them right now, yet the line has dropped significantly in Chicago’s favor. Chicago starter Tsuyoshi Wada has suffered a bit of bad luck in his five starts this season as the bullpen can’t bring home wins for him. Chicago is 1-4 SU in his five starts this year but Wada has a 1-1 SU record himself, meaning he gives his teammates a chance with that 3.25 ERA of his and the offense just can’t cash in. That should all change tonight as the Cubs are in a great spot to get the W and with this kind of line movement I’m siding with the home dog.
