It was a small winning night last night to start the week as my plays went 2-1 SU but it was my top play that was the loser. It’s always nice to start the week on the plus side, but I’ve got to keep it rolling the rest of the way. On to tonight’s plays:

All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts “to win” on favorites and flat on underdogs

KC ML (+140) $200 to win $280

LAD/KC Over 7 (-110) $220 to win $200

Everyone knows that the reigning Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw is one of the best pitchers in baseball right now and there’s no denying that fact. He proved it last time out with a no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies, who at the time had the best team batting average in the NL. But if you’ve been following Drock Sports for some time now, you know when we see a no-no, it’s time to get out the calendar and wait for that pitcher’s next start. The fact that it’s Kershaw only helps us get better value in fading him in this spot tonight and no surprise, he and the Dodgers are getting over 90% of the support right now.

Yet, the Royals surged into 1st place in the AL Central because their offense started to connect and keep the line moving. They knocked around Zach Greinke last night in winning the opener of this series and with a 9-1 SU record when coming off a win, KC’s in a good spot tonight. The Royals are also 5-1 SU in their last six at home against NL opponents and have a 5-1 SU streak going as an underdog, Add in the no-hitter angle and that +140 number is too good to pass up.

Regarding the total, L.A has a 5-0 O/U record in their last five vs. a winning team and have gone 9-3 O/U in Kershaw’s last 12 outings when coming off a quality start last time out. Kershaw also has a 5-2 O/U mark in his last seven interleague games and with his regression from the no-no imminent, this one will see 8+ runs.

Atlanta/Houston Over 8.5 (-120) $360 to win $300

This is another game that should see plenty of runs tonight as the Braves and Astros get going on a series after each team had Monday off. Atlanta starter Aaron Harang has an ERA over 6.00 in his last three outings and the Braves have a 4-0-1 O/U record in his last five starts against a losing team. Atlanta is also 8-3 O/U in their last 11 interleague games as an underdog, and with Houston being 4-0 O/U after an off day and 6-2 O/U in their last eight as a home favorite, we will see numerous runs scored tonight. The fact that 83% of bets have been placed on the ‘under’ helps our cause as well.

Minnesota/LAA Over 7.5 (-110) $220 to win $200

C.J Wilson has made my plays numerous times this year, but with him flipping the script on me with a couple of ‘unders’ in his last few road starts, I’ve decided to flip the script and play the ‘over’ with him here at home. This is another play that has the majority of bets (72%) coming in on the low side of this total, but both teams are coming off an off day and Minnesota has been one of the better ‘over’ teams all year. With the high side of this total being favored despite getting the minority of action, the books are taking a side with this play and I have no problem joining them.
