Overall it was a 1-2 night last night to make for a small losing day after yet another play of the day was the only winner. That makes it eight in a row on my top play so I hope everyone is getting involved on those bets. I won’t be able to win them all, but it’s a good feeling when you are winning your bigger bets more often than not. It’s back to the diamond tonight with my plays as I hope to keep this good run going.

Pittsburgh ML (-118) $354 to win $300
The Pirates are looking to take three of four from the Cubs tonight but they’ll be in tough against Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija has had some terrible luck for Chicago all year though as the Cubs are 3-10 SU in his starts despite having a 2.54 ERA. He’s a hot commodity on the trade market and will probably be wearing different colors come August.
But for now it’s all about taking the better team at a short price tonight as Pittsburgh looks to end this seven-game homestand with a winning record. They are 10-4 SU in the last 14 games against the Cubs and are 8-3 SU in their last 11 as a favorite of -150 or less. They’ve done well against quality pitching of late too with a 6-0 SU mark the last six times they’ve faced a pitcher with a WHIP of 1.15 or lower and they’ve also got a 5-0 SU record the last five times they’ve faced Samardzija.
All of those streaks continue tonight as Pittsburgh comes away with the win.
Baltimore ML (-108) $324 to win $300
The Jays bats are ice cold right now and there couldn’t be a worse time for Toronto’s offense to go cold. They lead Baltimore and New York by 4.5 games in the AL East and start this four-game set with Baltimore this weekend. After a short series vs. Cincy, the Jays then go to New York to face the Yankees so this is an early make-or-break point for the 1st place Jays.
Baltimore comes in with a 7-1 SU record in their last eight against AL East rivals and just took two of three from Boston. They are playing much better baseball at the moment and have won nine of their last 13 series openers. They are 4-1 SU in their last five as a home favorite and should be able to take advantage of a slumping Jays offense tonight. They’ve seen plenty of Mark Buehrle in the past and were on the wrong end of an 11-3 Buerhle outing back in April. Tonight’s the night they get their revenge as their offense does some damage against Buehrle and the Jays.
