I got back some of my losses yesterday with a 2-0 sweep thanks to the Tigers bringing out their offense again and the Cubs holding on for a 4-2 win. It’s a small board tonight with minimal MLB action, but there is also an NFL preseason game going on tonight.

Houston ML (+146) $200 to win $292

Not a lot of faith in my Astros tonight as bettors are flocking to the Red Sox and their big names. Boston already beat up on Scott Feldman in Houston about a month ago, but the Astros righty has been much better since that defeat going 2-1 SU in his last three outings. Those wins have come thanks to some tremendous run support from his offense (6/game), and with a 4-1 SU run going the last five times Feldman has taken the hill on only four days rest there is some value in Houston tonight. I’ve consistently said that the Astros are a great team to back as underdogs when no one wants them and a great team to avoid at any price when they are getting the majority of the love. Tonight falls into the former and I’ll be backing Bo Porter’s squad tonight.

NFL Plays

Jacksonville +3 (-110) $330 to win $300

Lots of love for the Bears in tonight’s preseason tilt as bettors are already lining up to fade Jacksonville this year any opportunity they get. However, the line has moved down from its opening number and with starting QB Chad Henne getting the entire first half to play the Jags will be able to move the ball against a Bears defense that looked downright bad last week.

Chicago’s got some playmakers as well, but they are definitely a team looking ahead to the regular season and making a playoff run while the Jags are looking for positive results to build confidence within the franchise. Like the Astros above, I have no problem backing a team that no one wants tonight as Jacksonville could very likely win this game outright.
