I hope you all sided with history in the Belmont Stakes and cashed my play on California Chrome not to win. That’s a play I look for every year when a horse has won the first two legs of the Triple Crown so keep that in mind for the coming years. My favorite horse Tonalist also came through with the victory as he made it back-to-back wins at the Belmont after claiming the Peter Pan Stakes a month ago. Commissioner was 2nd in that race too so it wasn’t surprising to see him do well.

My other plays went 2-3 on the day with yet another ‘under’ in the NHL playoffs going up in flames. I still believe the rest of the series will be low-scoring but I’ll be looking to pick my spots. MLB was 2-2 with my top play on the ‘over’ in Tampa hitting but it was basically a break-even day on the diamonds.

MLB action is where I’m going today as I’m looking to cash a few more tickets for you.

MLB Plays

 Oakland/Baltimore Over 8.5 (-119) $357 to win $300

My play of the day here thanks to a very strong wind (11 mph) blowing straight out to left field. Camden Yards has always been a hitter-friendly park but when you give the players supportive winds like this, balls will fly everywhere. Ubaldo Jimenez is a fly-ball pitcher that’s allowed 5 runs per start this year and the O’s have a 3-9 SU record in his starts to show for it. Oakland isn’t one of the best teams in the majors by accident and we should see this game reach double digit runs today.

LA Dodgers/Colorado Over 9 (+101) $200 to win $202

Clayton Kershaw is on the hill and for a Cy Young winner like himself, it’s rare to see a total higher than 8. But that’s why going ‘over’ the 9 runs tonight is a must because although one of those runs is because of the ballpark they are playing in (Colorado) the ‘over’ has cashed four of the last five times Kershaw has started here. We’ve seen two ‘unders’ already in this series so it’s time for to flip the script and get us an ‘over.’

Texas ML (-111) $222 to win $200

The Rangers are looking to avoid another home loss after they fell 8-3 to the Tribe yesterday. It was the sixth time in seven meetings that Cleveland has knocked off the Rangers but that run stops today.

Texas is 5-0 SU in their last five Game 3’s and are 6-2 SU in their last eight after a loss. They’ve got the bats to knock around Masterson should he be off (and he has been for most of the year) and these are the types of games the Rangers have to win if they are going to be playoff contenders this year. There is a good chance Texas and Cleveland will be battling it out for a wildcard spot in September so head-to-head matchups mean quite a bit. With the line move flip-flopping the favorite here, I’m siding with the move and taking Texas.
