It was a solid 2-0 day for my free selections yesterday as the Yankees managed to walk-off with a victory in the bottom of the 9th and the Sunday Night Baseball game sneaking over it’s low 6.5 total. It’s been a good start to the post-All Star break MLB season and I look to keep it going with these plays tonight.

LAD/Pittsburgh Over 7.5 (-108) $324 to win $300
Pittsburgh just swept the Rockies over the weekend and face a Dodgers team that just dropped two of three in St Louis. With both teams expecting to be in the playoffs this year, tonight’s game will have a playoff-type atmosphere, but neither has their starting pitcher in top form right now.
L.A’s Ryu has allowed 6.3 runs/game over his last three outings to the tune of a 5.28 ERA. He was the only winner for L.A in their four-game set at home against the Pirates this year (12-2) and after taking three of four from the Dodgers then, Pittsburgh is looking to get by Ryu tonight. Pittsburgh is 11-4 O/U in their last 15 series openers and they have a 4-0 O/U run going in their last four against winning teams.
With 26 of the last 34 games between these two in Pittsburgh sailing over the total, tonight we will see some runs scored here.
KC/Chicago Over 7 (-113) $226 to win $200
With Chicago’s Chris Sale on the hill you are always going to see money roll in on the ‘under’, but even I’m surprised to see 90%+ on the low side of this total tonight. The Royals have only seen Sale once this year and it was a 5-1 win for the Sox, but that game was also in the first week of the year when temperatures were just above freezing. KC is also a much better offensive team at this point in the year and after a tough series in Boston, they need to get the sticks going this week. They are 16-5 SU in their last 21 at Chicago so they’ve had success here in the past, but with a struggling Guthrie on the hill they’ll need to score some runs off Sale to get the W.
KC is 9-2 O/U in their last 11 series openers and are 4-0 O/U in Guthrie’s last four starts. Five of the last six games between these two have gone over the total and the last six times these two have played in the Windy City the total is 5-1 O/U as well. Chicago has been a great ‘over’ team all season and that won’t change tonight.
