It was a successful day on the diamond yesterday as I went 2-1 with my plays and both winners were nice sized underdogs. The finale between the Royals and Tigers have no chance of going over the total, but Atlanta came through as +130 dogs for my Play of the Day and Philly followed up with a win of their own at +165. Yesterday is old news though as I’m looking to give you guys some more winners on the diamond tonight.

NYM/Miami Over 7.5 (-115) $345 to win $300
New York won Game 1 of this series on the back of Zach Wheeler’s complete game shutout and while that’s a note you should all make for his next start early next week, tonight’s game is one we should see plenty of runs in as well. I say that because although the Mets offense has gone stale with a 1-7-1 O/U record in their last nine games, we’ve got a very favorable umpire situation for a high-scoring game tonight.
Home plate ump Lance Barrett has a 10-2 O/U record this year when calling balls and strikes with each team (road and home) scoring over 5 runs per game. With a lower total thanks to the Mets cold bats and the perception of both franchises being poor, we only need 75% of the 10.5 runs Barrett sees per game to pass this total. It helps that at the time of writing, only 24% of bets have come in on the high side of this total yet the price on Pinnacle has jumped from being in the + money as late as noon today to it’s current -115 price. I’m following a move like that most of the time and with the backing of a favorable umpire for this play, it’s got to be one to have on your card. It was a play that is on par with my top play so I’m going up to three units on it tonight.
Baltimore ML (+136) $200 to win $272
The Orioles are coming off an off-day Thursday as they watched the Yankees finish off their sweep of Toronto. Both of these teams have closed the gap on the Jays in the AL East, but it’s Baltimore’s turn to surpass the Yankees with a strong series this weekend. The O’s already took two of three from New York here in the Bronx earlier this season, but it was that one loss that was actually the first time tonight’s starters squared off.
Kuroda lasted 6.1 innings in New York’s 4-2 win that day as Jimenez couldn’t get through five innings. But that sets us up in a nice revenge angle spot tonight for Jimenez and the O’s and having the extra rest doesn’t hurt. Baltimore is 37-14 SU when coming off a day of rest and they are 6-2 SU in their last eight on the road. With a 11-4 SU run going against division foes, I look for Baltimore to come out ahead in this series opener.
Seattle ML (+126) $300 to win $378
This play is all about fading the Royals tonight after they had their 10-game winning streak snapped by the Tigers yesterday. Long winning streaks of 6+ games are great to track as I always look to fade that team in their next game after the streak was snapped. KC is riding a high as they passed the Tigers for the AL Central lead during that time and saw eight of those wins come against division rivals. Three straight division series can be taxing with an inevitable letdown spot around the corner and that’s precisely how I see tonight’s game playing out.
Seattle starter Iwakuma already pitched a gem this year against KC in a 1-0 shutout win for the Mariners. Iwakuma went eight strong innings in the victory and he’s got the stuff that could frustrate KC hitters all night. KC’s winning streak was sparked by their offense starting to produce, but this has still been one of the worst offenses in the AL this season and give them a game against a quality starter like Iwakuma in a tough spot like tonight’s is, and I can’t help but ride with the underdog tonight.
