Thankfully the calendar flipped over to August today and out of July as the last 10 days have been a very rough stretch for us at D Rock Sports. Of my three top plays yesterday I had an easy winner in the Seattle/Cleveland game, lost another on a 9th inning HR by Toronto, and dropped my CFL play on the final snap of the game. The bounces clearly aren’t going my way right now and I’m hoping the change over to August will help things start falling my way. It’s a full card of MLB action tonight with two games going in the CFL, I have a nice card shaping up for you all.

Milwaukee ML (+137) $300 to win $411
Huge series for both teams as they are in a tough battle for 1st in the NL Central. Milwaukee holds a two-game lead right now on the Cardinals, but after dropping two of three to St Louis (in Milwaukee) before the All-Star break, the Brewers are out for revenge tonight and in this series.
Milwaukee is up against Adam Wainwright tonight who pitched wonderfully in his last outing against the Cubs. But the start previous to that he got roughed up by the Rays. He’s a pitcher who’s had his confidence rattled every since the All-Star break and with a 2-5 SU record the last seven times he’s been favored by -150 or less, there is a lot of value in the Brewers tonight.
That fact is magnified when you see that Milwaukee’s lone win in that pre-All Star break series was with Wily Peralta on the hill as the Brewers have a 8-2 run going in his last 10 starts. Milwaukee is also 6-1 SU the last seven times Peralta has started a series and is 4-1 SU in his last five at home. The Brewers need this series more than the Cards do from a confidence standpoint as they are trying to overtake the champ, and with St Louis trading away one of their big bats (Allen Craig) yesterday, I’m not sure the Cards will have enough offense to keep up with Milwaukee should the Brewers score 3+ runs tonight.
San Diego ML (+120) $200 to win $240
Another Padres game against a lefty pitcher and their 11-2 SU mark in those spots. San Diego was just in Atlanta last weekend and dropped three of four to the Braves, including an 8-3 loss to tonight’s starter Mike Minor. Eric Stults started that game as well and with the revenge angle strongly in their favor, plus money odds, and the Padres playing better baseball these days with young guys stepping up and trying to earn their keep, I think San Diego comes away with a victory tonight.
CFL plays
Montreal -2.5 (+102) $200 to win $204
Sticking with the bye week system that remains perfect this season as Montreal was off last week and ready to redeem themselves after getting smoked in BC two weeks ago. The Argos are still without some of their big names on offense and with the home crowd on Montreal’s side, they’ll come away with the victory.
*(Other shops have this at -2 so make sure you try and find the best number out there. I’m just using this number as it’s what Pinnacle has up as of posting).
BC +4.5 (-112) $336 to win $300
BC was in the classic sandwich spot last week as I went against them with the Blue Bombers and cashed an easy win. Well, after spots like that you want to play ON said team (BC) the next week cause it’s clearly the game they want to get. Their loss to Winnipeg was after an emotional blowout win in a revenge spot vs. Montreal and they were looking ahead to 1st place Calgary this week. This is where QB Kevin Glenn gets his chance to shine against his old team as he and the rest of the Lions have had this game marked on their calendar for quite some time now.
