Thursday June 19th Betting Action

Missed with another play of the day yesterday as I'm starting to slide with those top plays again, but managed to go 1-1 with my picks overall as the Jays finally got a game to go over the total. A small losing day is something I can live with as you won't win every day with your selections, you've just got to have more winning days than losing ones. I'm looking to get back on track with these plays today as I've got some afternoon action for everyone. As a side note, I'm not putting it in today's selections, but with the LAA/Cleveland game getting washed out yesterday and the starting pitchers moved to this afternoon, I'm not against sticking with my original analysis and playing the "over" 8.5 in that game. C.J Wilson is still making a road start so all of those numbers I touched on yesterday still apply. Wilson does have a much better ERA in the daytime but Masterson's is way worse (7.66), so if you are looking for some real early action, I still lean heavily on that over. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 69-69-9 (+$1730) MLB plays Kansas City/Detroit Over 8 (-103) $206 to win $200 KC is looking for it's 11th straight win today as they hope to sweep the Tigers away in this four-game set and continue to build on their new-found lead in the AL Central. KC's offense has awakened from their year-long slump to start this winning streak and I don't see them stopping with the bats today. The Royals have pounded right-handed pitching during [...]

Wednesday June 18th Betting Action

I missed with my play of the day (Toronto/NYY Over) last night but it was still a profitable night as the over in Houston/Washington came through as did my play on Oakland ML. There are plenty of daytime ball games today so let's get right to the picks. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 68-68-9 (+$1822) MLB Plays Houston Astros ML (+144) $300 to win $432 Houston has lost all three games with Washington this year but they showed some very positive signs late in last night's loss as they tried to come back and win. The Astros aren't the same pushovers they've been the last few years as they are finally taking some great steps forward into becoming a legitimate, competitive franchise again. Houston still won't contend for the playoffs this season, but the influx of talented youth they've got in their lineup will only help them in years to come. But what makes this play one I like tonight is the fact that Houston gets to face left-handed Gio Gonzalez tonight in his first start off the DL. As a team Houton hits nearly .40 points better (.267 to .227) and score 4.36 runs per game. The Astros don't hit as many HR's against southpaws (0.3) but that means they are getting it done by keeping the order moving and getting hits all over the field. They've already seen Gonzalez this year before he went on the DL and there is no way in my mind that Gio is worth this hefty price in his first start back. He has a 7.98 ERA in his [...]

Monday June 16th Betting Action

Yesterday's plays went 1-2, but it was my third straight loss on my Play of the Day that really stung. Those are the plays I really want to see cash in for you guys and after a strong run (8-0-1), losing three straight sucks. Thankfully, we've built up a bit of a cushion with our bankroll with those plays to withstand a few losing days, but I don't plan on losing my top play tonight. With the NHL and NBA officially in off-season mode now, it's only MLB action that's available to us so let's get right to it. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold NBA YTD: 12-13-1 (-$187) NHL YTD: 10-13-3 (-$217) MLB YTD: 63-67-8 (+$835) MLB plays Philadelphia ML (+118) $200 to win $236 Cleveland ML (-110) $330 to win $300 Fading teams after they played in the national spotlight of Sunday Night Baseball is something I love to do and both these games fit that bill tonight. Philadelphia is in Atlanta to take on the Braves and Cole Hamels continues to get + money prices. He was once a dominant pitcher in the NL and has slowly been rounding back into that form this year.  He can shut down a Braves lineup that has struggled against southpaws all season and with only 30% of the bets coming in on the Phillies and the line moving in their favor, this is a play you have to jump on. We've had similar line movement for the Indians as they are in the 35% range of backers yet they've flip-flopped from being a small home dog to a [...]

Sunday June 15th Betting Action

Was stung yesterday with my plays, going 0-2 but it's still been a good week and I'm running short on time so let's get right to it. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold NBA YTD: 12-13-1 (-$187) NHL YTD: 10-13-3 (-$217) MLB YTD: 62-65-8 (+$1150) MLB Plays Washington/St Louis Over 7.5 (-105) $315 to win $300 NYY/Oakland Over 8 (-106) $212 to win $200 Texas/Seattle Over 7.5 (+111) $200 to win $222 All three of these plays have something in common. They are all series finale games that have seen the first two contests stay under the total. I'm going back to the well with Washington/St Louis tonight as I do believe we see a few more runs tonight without Strasburg and a surging Shelby Miller on the mound. Those two other games in the AL West have some suspect pitchers taking the hill as well (Nuno, Chavez, Martinez) and it's not like Iwakuma will continue to be lights out the rest of the year. All three of these games fit the bill of trying to flip the total in a series finale should the first few games in a given series finish with the same total result. For those that are interested, there are a few other games that apply with some of them starting soon. I will not be using these as plays but that's only because they narrowly missed the cut: Pittsburgh Under, Toronto Over, White Sox Under, San Fran Under.

Saturday June 14th Betting Action

I missed with my play of the day by a half-run last night, but still came away with a nice profit with my two underdog selections hitting. I can never complain about a 2-1 day but it's always about looking ahead in this business. MLB action is the only game in town today so it's back to the diamond with my plays today. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold NBA YTD: 12-13-1 (-$187) NHL YTD: 10-13-3 (-$217) MLB YTD: 62-63-8 (+$1732) MLB Plays  Washington Nationals ML (-129) $258 to win $200 and Over 7 (-108) $324 to win $300 Keeping it short and sweet today. This game fits the bill of a strategy I've used a lot here on Drock Sports and I'm not about to skip over situations like this. Cardinals starter Shelby Miller was fantastic in is last outing, pitching a complete game, shutout against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays offense had been raking the ball until that point so slowing them down and completely blanking them was no easy task. But Miller hasn't shown that he's capable of sustaining that great play, especially with a 4.71 ERA in his last three starts (including that Jays game). He's been hit the hardest  in night games (5.08 ERA) as seven of the 10 HR's he's allowed this year have come after dark. He faces a Washington team that was blanked yesterday so the sticks will be ready and they've had no problem giving Strasburg plenty of help this year. Washington has scored 5.3 runs per Strasburg start this season (14 games) but that number goes up to [...]
