Thursday July 24th Betting Action

My nice little run on free plays continued on Wednesday with the Giants and Phillies playing a 0-0 game into extras. That makes it an 8-4 start to the 2nd half of the MLB season for my plays and I'm hoping to keep it going with these selections tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with 'bet amounts' to win on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 8-4 (+$1379) CFL YTD: 2-3 (+$88) MLB Plays Miami ML (+115) $300 to win $345 Big time movement on this game as recreational bettors continue to have no problem laying the chalk with an Atlanta team that has Aaron Harang on the hill. Harang is not a pitcher I'm willing to back at any price unless he's a decent underdog as his best baseball is clearly behind him. But this play is all about siding with the reverse line movement here with a Miami team that isn't as bad as many perceive them to be. They are 7-1 SU in Henderson Alvarez's last eight starts against a division rival and have a 10-2 SU run going in his last 12 starts overall. Taking three of four from the Braves would be a great accomplishment for this young team and I believe they'll do it. Detroit ML (+104) $200 to win $208 It's not too often you'll find the reigning Cy Young winner Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers as an underdog, but that's what they are tonight in L.A. The Angels actually have a better record than the Tigers but sit in a wildcard spot because the A's are in their division and [...]

Wednesday July 23rd Betting Action

Gotta love those 3-0 days like I had last night, especially when two of them were dogs at +140 and +165. Those three wins help my second half get going on the right track and I'm looking to continue that today with one strong play for you. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with 'bet amounts' to win on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 7-4 (+$1079) CFL YTD: 2-3 (+$88) MLB plays San Francisco/Philadelphia Under 7.5 (-107) $321 to win $300 This is not a series finale game as these two meet up for Game 4 tomorrow afternoon, but that doesn't mean that after two straight 'overs' in this series that I'm not willing to back an under tonight. For one, we've got a great 'under' umpire in Vic Carapazza behind the dish and his 60% 'under' rate (8-12 O/U). That's a good percentage for any guy, but the fact that he only sees 3.5 runs scored by the home team and 3.4 scored by the road team means that he's used to seeing low totals and still cashing on the low side. Carapazza's on a 2-5 O/U run in his last seven behind the plate and should have an expanded zone for the pitchers to work with tonight. Speaking of those pitchers, it's A.J Burnett for the Phillies and Madison Bumgarner for the Giants. Burnett has a 2-5 O/U run going in his last seven at home and is 1-5 O/U the last six times he's pitched in a Game 3. Add in a 1-4 O/U run as a home dog and a 0-4 O/U run against NL West [...]

Tuesday July 22nd Betting Action

Followed my 2-0 Sunday with an 0-2 Monday and that never feels good. LA and Pittsburgh had a 5-2 score after the 4th inning and couldn't get one more run for my 'over' the rest of the way. No point in whining about what could have been though, as I've already moved on to today's board and found a few plays I like for you tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with 'bet amounts' to win on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 4-4 (+$169) CFL YTD: 2-3 (+$88) MLB Plays Pittsburgh ML (-118) $354 to win $300 The Pirates dropped the opener last night as they couldn't sustain any pressure late in the game. However, tonight they face a rusty Josh Beckett who hasn't been on the mound since July 6th and doesn't have the greatest numbers supporting him tonight. L.A is 2-5 SU the last seven times Beckett's been listed as an underdog and that goes hand-in-hand with his 2-7 SU record the last nine times he's face a winning team. He's clearly a guy who's best days are long behind him and the Pirates already beat him (2-1) earlier this season. I'm expecting Pittsburgh to jump on him early and with a 12-4 SU record in their last 16 as favorites and a 6-1 SU run going at home, the Pirates will grab that early lead and hold on to it the rest of the way. Miami ML (+165) $200 to win $330 Nothing like a bit of reverse line movement in favor of a big dog like Miami as people continue to back the overpriced [...]

Monday July 21st Betting Action

It was a solid 2-0 day for my free selections yesterday as the Yankees managed to walk-off with a victory in the bottom of the 9th and the Sunday Night Baseball game sneaking over it's low 6.5 total. It's been a good start to the post-All Star break MLB season and I look to keep it going with these plays tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with 'bet amounts' to win on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 4-2 (+$719) CFL YTD: 2-3 (+$88) MLB Plays LAD/Pittsburgh Over 7.5 (-108) $324 to win $300 Pittsburgh just swept the Rockies over the weekend and face a Dodgers team that just dropped two of three in St Louis. With both teams expecting to be in the playoffs this year, tonight's game will have a playoff-type atmosphere, but neither has their starting pitcher in top form right now. L.A's Ryu has allowed 6.3 runs/game over his last three outings to the tune of a 5.28 ERA. He was the only winner for L.A in their four-game set at home against the Pirates this year (12-2) and after taking three of four from the Dodgers then, Pittsburgh is looking to get by Ryu tonight. Pittsburgh is 11-4 O/U in their last 15 series openers and they have a 4-0 O/U run going in their last four against winning teams. With 26 of the last 34 games between these two in Pittsburgh sailing over the total, tonight we will see some runs scored here. KC/Chicago Over 7 (-113) $226 to win $200 With Chicago's Chris Sale on the hill you are always going to [...]

Sunday June 20th Betting Action

It was a 2-2 day on Saturday with my selections but had some more tough luck on what could have been a 4-0 day. St Louis jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning on L.A and didn't score again, making the over 7.5 a loser, while the over in the BC Lions game came close with only a FG needed for a push, but Montreal's offense didn't help and the Lions fumbled away a shot at a late FG in the waning minutes. That's how it goes sometimes though, but thanks to that romp by those Lions a 2-2 day still turned a small profit. It's on to Sunday's card with baseball being the only sport in town. There isn't much on the board that I like even with it being series finale day and numerous flip-flop totals in play. So here are two plays for you today. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with 'bet amounts' to win on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 2-2 (+$211) CFL YTD: 2-3 (+$88) MLB plays NYY ML (-119) $357 to win $300 LAD/STL Over 6.5 (+104) $200 to win $208
