Thursday August 14th Betting Action

I got back some of my losses yesterday with a 2-0 sweep thanks to the Tigers bringing out their offense again and the Cubs holding on for a 4-2 win. It's a small board tonight with minimal MLB action, but there is also an NFL preseason game going on tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 21-22 (+$820) CFL YTD: 5-6 (+$34) NFL-X YTD: 0-1 (-$210) MLB plays Houston ML (+146) $200 to win $292 Not a lot of faith in my Astros tonight as bettors are flocking to the Red Sox and their big names. Boston already beat up on Scott Feldman in Houston about a month ago, but the Astros righty has been much better since that defeat going 2-1 SU in his last three outings. Those wins have come thanks to some tremendous run support from his offense (6/game), and with a 4-1 SU run going the last five times Feldman has taken the hill on only four days rest there is some value in Houston tonight. I've consistently said that the Astros are a great team to back as underdogs when no one wants them and a great team to avoid at any price when they are getting the majority of the love. Tonight falls into the former and I'll be backing Bo Porter's squad tonight. NFL Plays Jacksonville +3 (-110) $330 to win $300 Lots of love for the Bears in tonight's preseason tilt as bettors are already lining up to fade Jacksonville this year any opportunity they get. However, the line has [...]

Wednesday August 13th Betting Action

It's been a brutal 0-5 start to the week with my free plays as I just can't seem to cash one right now. That's alright though as streaks (good and bad) can turn in a heartbeat and after a lot of work was put into today's research, I'm confident I'll be coming out ahead with these plays tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs. Play of the Day in Bold MLB pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post-All Star Break: 19-22 (+$284) CFL YTD: 5-6 (+$34) MLB plays Pitt/Detroit Over 8.5 (-130) $260 to win $200 The Tigers are still feeling the affects of that 19-inning loss to Toronto on Sunday as they've called up Buck Farmer to make his first MLB start tonight after scheduled starter Rick Porcello was forced to go a few innings late in that Toronto game. Farmer will be in tough against a Pittsburgh lineup that's scoring a lot of runs these days as they have to keep pace with everyone else (except the Cubs) in the NL Central. The young rookie could have some success first time through the order, but after that it'll be rough - if he even gets to that point. The Tigers hitters know the predicament they are in after losing four in a row and need to give Farmer all the help they can. They do have some history with Vance Worley from his time with the Twins and everyone in this lineup who's faced him before has had success - except Miguel Cabrera. I don't think you have to worry about Cabrera eventually hitting a guy, and with his supporting cast sporting [...]

Tuesday August 12th Betting Action

We went 2-0 with our premium picks yesterday, but my free card was a forgettable one finishing up 0-3. Rather than vent about what could have been, it's on to tonight board and with every team in action there is plenty to chose from. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post-All Star Break: 19-20 (+$853) CFL YTD: 5-6 (+$34) MLB plays Milwaukee/Chicago Over 7 (-123) $369 to win $300 These two played to a 3-1 game in the opener last night, but with a strong over umpire (13-8 O/U) that averages 8.9 runs per game, I believe the script will flip tonight. Both starters in this game have been the beneficiaries of some good run support of late (5/game and 4.7/game) so it's not like their teammates won't back them up tonight. Milwaukee is 4-0 O/U in Peralta's last four starts on the road and has a 5-1 O/U run going when he pitches off of only four days rest. The Brewers are 7-3 O/U in his last 10 starts overall too, and with the Cubs being 23-7-2 O/U in their last 32 against a winning team, this game has too many factors favoring the high side of this total that I can't help but make it my top play today. Kansas City ML (+133) $200 to win $266 Another game that fits a strong strategy we like to use here as Oakland's Jon Lester is coming off a complete game shutout in his last outing. That calls for a fade in his next start and it just so happens he's [...]

Monday August 11th Betting Action

I took an extended break over the weekend to dive into football research for the NFL and college. We've got a lot of great things lined up for the football season for you here at D Rock Sports so stay tuned in the coming weeks for all the great content. It's back to MLB tonight with 10 games on tonight's board and there are a few games that I really love tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post All Star Break: 19-17 (+$1583) CFL YTD: 5-6 (+$34) MLB plays Oakland/KC Over 7 (-115) $230 to win $200 The Royals are the hottest team in baseball right now with seven straight wins under their belt and a 15-3 SU run in their last 18 overall. During this seven-game run they haven't scored less than four runs in any contest as they are finally starting to give their starting pitchers some support. Oakland's Sonny Gray has been great all year but he's got roughed up by Tampa last time out and he looks like he's just trying to grind through the dog days of summer here. KC got a lot of momentum rolling now and I like their chances to put up 4+ again tonight. Oakland will do their fair share of scoring as well as they are 4-0 O/U in their last four on the road and they are also 4-0 O/U in their last four as a road favorite. They've got a 5-1-2 O/U run going on the road when the total is between 7 and 8.5 and with tonight's [...]

Thursday August 7th Betting Action

It was a solid day for us at D Rock Sports yesterday as our premium plays went 3-1, while my two free plays swept the board. All that Houston love from bettors yesterday was the wrong side once again and the Jays showed up in a must-win spot and played some great baseball all the way around. It's a busy day in the sports world tonight with the NFL preseason getting going, a full MLB card and one CFL game, so let's get right to today's plays. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB pre-All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post-All Star Break: 19-17 (+$1583) NFL plays New England/Washington Over 38.5 (-105) $210 to win $200 These two franchises have been holding joint practices all week and that means that both have built up a little animosity for one another over the week and have a good idea of how to attack each other. Both offenses are very deep and will have those same depth guys gunning to make an impression. All of that is a good recipe for a high scoring affair as this game reaches the 40's. CFL play Saskatchewan/Winnipeg Over 54.5 (-106) $318 to win $300 The two highest scoring teams in the CFL meet up for the first time and after a plethora of 'unders' in this league the past few weeks, I believe we see an offensive explosion tonight. Winnipeg averages 28 points per game this year while Saskatchewan sits at 26.8. The Roughriders have been rolling though with back-to-back 30+ point games the last two weeks and knowing that they'll have to [...]
