Thursday August 28th Betting Action

Neither of my two big dogs could come through for me last night as they cut into some of my recent gains. One bad inning cost the Cubs in their game vs. Cincinnati and the D-Backs missed cashing in on some great early opportunities against Kershaw in the 3rd and 4th inning. It's been a very busy day here at D-Rock Sports with the college football season finally starting, the NFL preseason wrapping up and MLB still going on. Personally, I avoid all betting during Week 4 of the NFL preseason because it's just too hard to really get a grasp on what players will get the majority of the time and I'd rather just pass altogether. However, I do have a free play for you all in MLB and CFB tonight and we've also got five premiums locked in for our subscribers (4 in CFB). So let's get right to the action. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post All Star Break: 28-31 (+$508) CFL YTD: 6-7 (+$34) NFL-X YTD: 2-3 ATS (-$26) NCAAF YTD: 0-0 ATS MLB Play Texas Rangers ML (+126) $300 to win $378 The Houston Astros in one way or another (play on or fade) have made my free play card quite often this year. I've consistently said that they are a team you can find tremendous value with when they are a decent-sized underdog and one you should look to avoid when they are laying chalk. The latter is the case tonight and after coughing up the lead in the 9th to Oakland last night, [...]

Wednesday August 27th Betting Action

Managed to keep the momentum going last night with my two free plays as they did split with a 1-1 mark, but my top play on the Red Sox was once again a winner. This Toronto team is one or two more losses away from completely turning on each other and completely sinking, so it will be interesting to see how they perform in the coming days with the Yankees coming to town after this series. Toronto comes in as favorites again tonight and although I said I'd be fading the Jays a lot the rest of the way, tonight's not one of those games. I happy to collect my two wins with Boston from this series and move elsewhere on the board because I actually believe Toronto's got enough fight left in them to pull out a W and give their remaining hopeful fans a little longer to believe. I'm going elsewhere on the MLB board tonight so let's get right to the free plays. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post All Star Break: 28-29 (+$1008) CFL YTD: 6-7 (+$34) NFL-X YTD: 2-3 (-$26) MLB Plays Chicago Cubs ML (+150) $300 to win $450 The Cincinnati Reds are the NL version of the Toronto Blue Jays. A team that had high hopes entering the year, had a few good stretches at times, hurt by injuries, and now watching their season slip right out from under them. The Reds are almost resigned to their fate of missing the playoffs once again and just like the Jays will be a [...]

Tuesday August 26th Betting Action

I was able to bring out the brooms yesterday with my free plays and if you had waited to bet both of my underdogs until just before first pitch you would have gotten better numbers than I did. That's alright though as a 2-0 day with underdogs is always a good one with Boston and Texas coming through for me. We've got a full day of baseball action tonight with every team back in action so let's get right to the plays. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post All Star Break: 27-28 (+$842) CFL YTD: 6-7 (+$34) NFL-X YTD: 2-3 (-$26) MLB Plays Boston ML (+122) $300 to win $366 I'm not usually one to go out on a limb and back bad teams for consecutive days, but I can't help but come back with the Red Sox tonight. Living about an hour away from the Toronto area and watching this Jays team routinely, I can't help but see the sinking ship that is the Jays franchise right now as Toronto will be in some big changes this off-season. Radio personalities who have been optimistic about Toronto's chances this year continually point to their 21-win month of May and relate it to the fact how teams in the past that have won that often in a month typically get to the playoffs. However, schedule-wise May was very generous to Toronto and they had a lot of things go their way. Since then when the pressure has been raised, this team's glaring holes/weaknesses have come to the forefront and in [...]

Monday August 25th Betting Action

My free plays on Friday went 2-2 after the Montreal Alouettes failed to close out Winnipeg for the 2nd time this year. Thankfully my two winners were MLB underdogs to ensure a profit and after a busy weekend of research and changing addresses, I'm ready to attack this football season for all of you. It's only bases tonight so let's pad that bankroll with a couple more free winners tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre All-Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post All Star Break: 25-28 (+$230) CFL YTD: 6-7 (+$34) NFL-X YTD: 2-3 (-$26) MLB plays Boston ML (+106) $300 to win $318 Texas ML (+147) $200 to win $294 I'm grouping these two plays together as they've got plenty in common tonight. First off, the Red Sox and Rangers are two teams left playing out the remaining games on their schedule as there will be no playoffs for either franchise. They are teams that have compiled up the losses of late with Boston losing eight straight and Texas failing to win two in a row since early August. Both teams are ones that no bettors want to back because of this futility and if you've followed me all year you'll know that I have no problem backing the underdogs that no one wants. Secondly, both teams are up against wildcard contenders in Toronto and Seattle as the pressure clearly resides with those home squads tonight. Yet, despite the Jays and Mariners getting the majority of action from bettors as they continue to fade Texas and Boston daily, we've seen reverse line movement in play [...]

Friday August 22nd Betting Action

I got back in the win column with the Eagles last night as that NFL-X game kicked off what will be a very busy weekend in sports. We've got a full MLB card, five NFL-X games, and even a CFL game on the board tonight and D Rock and I have loaded up a six-pack of premium plays for our subscribers. If you haven't already signed up make sure you jump on board to get those plays. As for my free plays tonight, I'm touching on a bit of everything tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB Post All Star Break: 23-28 (-$380) CFL YTD: 6-6 (+$234) NFL-X YTD: 2-2 (+$174) MLB Plays Philadelphia ML (+143) $200 to win $286 Wainwright's been a guy I've loved to go against since the All Star break and that doesn't change here. Wainwright and the Cards have nearly 90% of the action backing them tonight yet the line has dropped from -170 to -155 as the books clearly don't mind the public coming in and taking the heavy road favorite. Reverse line movement like that is something I love to see on the board, especially with a home dog and I'll take this Philly team that nobody wants tonight. Tampa Bay ML (+108) $300 to win $324 Toronto is slowly watch this season slip from their grasp as the Orioles continue to build on their large lead in the AL East and there are just too many other teams Toronto's competing with for that final wildcard spot. The Rays are in town to [...]
