Yesterday was not a good one by any means as I only won one of my 7 plays for the day and really cut into my profits. Poor play by the Rockets down the stretch to let Portland overtake them while eventually forcing Overtime killed my Play of the Day for it to be the first loser on that front. Bad days like that will happen in this business though and it’s important to not let it rattle you going forward. Here are today’s plays as I’m looking to get back into the win column tonight.

All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts “to win” on favorites and flat on underdogs

Play of the Day in Bold

NHL YTD: 2-2 (+$228)

MLB YTD: 2-5-1 (-$696)

NBA YTD: 4-3 (+$286)

MLB Plays:

Pick #1 and #2: Chicago Cubs ML (+118) $200 to win $236 and Chicago/Cincinnati Over 7.5 (-103) $309 to win $300

– The Reds took two of three @ Wrigley about a week ago and return home for the first time tonight after a 10-game road trip that started against these Cubs. Cincinnati is 1-8 SU in their last nine Game 1’s and 2-7 SU in their last nine at home against a righty, so look for Samardzija to get his revenge tonight.

– Cincinnati is also 6-1-1 O/U after a road trip of 7+ days and with the Cubs being 6-0 O/U after a victory this year, look for more at least 8 runs to be scored tonight after these two starting pitchers met last week and only gave up 5.

Pick #3: Oakland A’s ML (+120) $300 to win $360

-After getting swept at home by Texas a week ago it’s Oakland’s chance for redemption tonight. They have some great numbers against Darvish in his career with a 6-1 SU record in their last seven meetings, including 4-0 SU against Darvish IN Texas. Value is jus too good to pass up on the A’s tonight.

NHL plays:

Colorado/Minnesota Under 5 (-121) $242 to win $200

San Jose/L.A Under 5 (+100) $200 to win $200

– A pair of home teams facing elimination tonight and with each team finding success with their backs against the wall before by relying on their defense I believe we see more of the same tonight. Colorado only scored one goal in Games 3 and 4 in Minnesota while L.A’s Jonathan Quick finally shut down San Jose’s potent attack in Game 5 with a 3-0 shutout. Four goals is all we will see in both of these games tonight.

NBA plays:

Indiana -7 (-104) $208 to win $200

San Antonio -4 (-110) $220 to win $200

– Here we’ve got a couple of # 1 seeds looking to get back in control of their respective series. Indiana is back at home for Game 5 after tying it up 2-2 with a Game 4 victory and are slowly coming around to being the team we saw dominate the league in the first half of the season. They’ve found an answer to stopping Atlanta’s “spread the floor” offense and with the good memories of a blowout win here in Game 2, I’m expecting the Pacers to win by double digits tonight.

– It would be nice to see the Spurs do the same as they are looking to avoid returning home down 3-1 in their series with Dallas. San Antonio is too good to have their backs against the wall this early in the playoffs with their sights set on another Finals appearance and we should see the best game to date in this series by Popovich’s squad tonight.
