After another weekend with my head buried in football research as we continue to work on quality NFL and NCAA football content for you all, I’m back with a few free plays tonight in MLB. We are very excited for what we have in store for you guys this upcoming football season and with the start of the college season two weeks away we are running out of time to hunker down and provide the in-depth knowledge you need to have a tremendous betting season.

It’s back to the bases tonight for me though after a 1-2 overall Friday night cost us a bit of dough. Another light card leaves us with limited options, but there are two solid plays I believe you should definitely have on your card tonight.

All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts “to win” on favorites and flat on underdogs

LAA/Boston Over 9.5 (+100) $300 to win $300

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a solid spot to back ‘overs’ with my early season favorite CJ Wilson on the hill away from home. He’s only 2-2 O/U in his last four road starts but each of those two ‘unders’ cashed by the hook (0.5). Those two unders also came in the first two of those four contests with his last two starts away from home resulting in 5 runs and 10 runs against. Wilson never pitched more than 3.2 innings in those two starts, so it’s unlikely we see him go that deep in tonight’s game.

When we take it back even further though you’ll see that the Angels have a 30-6-3 O/U record in Wilson’s last 39 starts away from home and that includes a 14-3-1 O/U run when he comes in as the road favorite. Wilson is also 20-5-1 O/U at any park when he’s starting Game 1 of a series and has a 16-5-1 O/U run going when he’s pitching on a full five days off. Boston got their bats going in two wins against Houston over the weekend scoring 9 and 10 runs in those victories and I like their chances to put up a crooked number or two against Wilson tonight.

To hit this wager the Angels will have to score as well and they face a guy in Brandon Workman who’s allowed an average of 6/game in his 10 starts this season. That number is up to 6.3/game over his last three starts and Boston has lost all three of those games. He missed his last start due to fatigue and although the Sox are hoping the extra rest helps Workman tonight, Boston has a 10-4 O/U run going in their last 14 games against AL West opponents and the last five trips to Fenway for LA have all gone over the posted total.

Tonight will not be any different as we see a shootout at Fenway tonight.

Arizona +1.5 (-103) $206 to win $200

Washington has been getting all the love in this game tonight as bettors are basically giving them the victory before they even take the field. Yes, the D-Backs are one of the worst teams in the league, have a horrific bullpen, and have not won with Nuno on the hill since acquiring him, but even the worst teams in baseball win 40% of the time and we don’t even need Arizona to come out on top tonight with this play.

Washington swept the Pirates over the weekend to keep their lead over Atlanta in the NL East, but this team is susceptible to bouts of inconsistent play and the run support they’ve been giving Zimmerman lately (6.3/game over last three starts) is long overdue to regress. As a team they’ve won six in a row coming into tonight but only two of those victories have come by more than one run and all three victories over Pittsburgh on the weekend were by a single run. Therefore I don’t have a problem taking the +1.5 with the D-Backs tonight in a game I think they could ruin a lot of bets/parlays on Washington with the outright win.
