The first Saturday of the college football season was very kind to us here at D Rock Sports as we went a combined 4-0 ATS with D Rock hitting a nice parlay and my free Twitter play on Toledo cashing as well. Premium plays went 6-3 ATS for our clients and with the total on the day being 11-3 ATS with a two-team parlay cashing, our clients and readers padded their bankrolls nicely to start the season. All football season I’ll be out on twitter giving out free plays and breaking down games for you (especially in college) so make sure you come find me on twitter @ATSskinner.

However, after a great Saturday we can’t get to high as we’ve got to keep plugging away for you and with a few more CFB games on the card tonight, I will definitely have some plays/suggestions for everyone. My free play card is sticking to the diamond though as we’ve got series finales going off everywhere and some great spots that fit some of our systems here at D Rock sports.

Texas/Houston Under 8.5 (-115) $230 to win $200

Nothing like waking up and seeing 75% of the action on the high side of this total and the ‘under’ being the number that’s tagged with juice. The main reason for that is we’ve got Tony Randazzo behind the dish and he’s 2-13 O/U on the year with an average of 6.5 runs scored per game. Texas and Houston are both free swinging teams that are prone to a lot of strikeouts and with ground ball pitcher Dallas Keuchel on the hill for Houston tonight we won’t see too many deep fly balls.

Keuchel has an 0-3 O/U record over his last three starts as he’s given up 2.7/game over that span and gets out of a lot of jams with all those ground balls. The Astros are 0-5 O/U in his last five starts, 0-8 O/U the last eight times he’s been a favorite and as a team Houston is 3-12 O/U the last 15 times they’ve been favored.

Combine those numbers with Texas’ 1-8 O/U run in their last nine against southpaws, 2-8 O/U run against divisional opponents, and a 1-4 O/U run in Martinez’s last five starts and runs will be hard to come by today. Having an ump like Randazzo that has a huge strikezone further helps us out as this one tops out at 7 runs.

LAA ML (-120) $360 to win $300

The Angels are looking for the four-game sweep over Oakland today as they are starting to pull away in the AL West. LA has a four-game lead on the A’s in the standings now and are playing some of their best all around baseball at the moment. This is a chance for LA to take control of this division for good and I don’t believe they let it pass them by.

The Angels are up against Scott Kazmir today and he’s really had a tough time of late. Kaz has allowed 21 hits in only 16 innings of work over his last three starts (avg of 5.1/game) and he was lit up by this Angels team in his last start when the A’s lost 9-4. Kazmir lasted only three innings in that game and gave up 7 runs on 10 hits and I don’t believe much changes tonight. The Angels are just locked in right now are are taking control of their own destiny with a 21-5 SU run against division rivals. L.A is also 6-1 SU the last seven times they’ve played a Game 4 of a series and with the A’s on the ropes they’ll look to choke them out.

Matt Shoemaker gets the nod for LA and the Angels are a perfect 5-0 SU in his last five starts against AL West opponents and are 5-1 SU in his last six overall. This is a young guy that’s not getting all the respect he deserves from bettors and in my opinion this -120 price is a steal.
