I’m back with a couple of free plays tonight as we’ve got two NFL games going tonight, four contests on the ice in the NHL and a handful+ of NBA games on the court. I’m still taking it slow with NCAAB as I continue to gather information, but don’t worry, I’ll have plenty of plays there as the season goes on.

Let’s get right to tonight’s free plays though as I look at the MNF game along with a NHL tilt.

New Orleans Saints -2.5 (-113) $339 to win $300

I can’t go against the Saints at home in prime time as they’ve won 12 straight times in that situation and having lost two in a row here in this building, they’ll be extra-motivated to not make it three straight. It’s not going to be easy as the Ravens are coming off their bye week and need every win they can get to keep pace with EVERYONE else in the AFC North, but for whatever reason, Brees, Payton and the rest of the Saints tend to show up with their best football when the bright lights are on.

Part of that prime time win streak is a 5-0 ATS run on MNF for New Orleans at home and with a 16-5 ATS mark in the Superdome against an opponent with a winning record on the road, the Saints are in a good spot tonight. Baltimore is only 1-4-1 ATS away from home in their last six, and despite the extra rest, I think it will be the Saints who take control of this game in the 2nd half and don’t look back.

NHL Free Pick

Philadelphia ML (+144) $200 to win $288

Absolutely brutal spot for the Islanders tonight as they are coming off a sweep in a home-and-home with the Penguins and start another home-and-home with the Capitals after tonight’s game. On paper they are a better team than the Flyers and do have the advantage of being at home, but this is not a spot I’d want to even consider laying the -160 or whatever it is on the Isles.

Instead, I’m backing a Philly team at plus-money who has a 20-6 SU record in their last 26 games here in New York and could easily tack on another win to that run tonight. The flyers are a very live dog tonight as this is a tough spot for New York and I don’t see how the Islanders can muscle out of it.
