Thursday September 25th Betting Action

Couldn't manage to cash with yesterday's free play on the 'over' in the Astros/Rangers game as this week as been a grind, but there are four football games on tap tonight and that's where my focus has shifted too. So without further ado, lets get to tonight's NFL free picks and college football free pick. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold Free Play Records MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post All Star Break: 45-43 (+$2359) CFL YTD: 6-8 (-$266) NCAAF YTD: 8-6 ATS (+$229)  NFL YTD: 4-6 ATS (-$557) NFL free pick NYG/Washington Under 45 (-105) $315 to win $300 After losing the 'under' on the last NFL prime time game (Bears/Jets), I'm going back to the well with that train of thought tonight to take another low-side of a total. So far this total has been moving back and forth throughout the week as 75%+ of bets have come in on the high side. That's not too surprising given that the Giants and Redskins put up 30+ points last week and casual bettors generally subscribe to the "what have you done for me lately" idea.  However, this total has been on it's way down all morning and that move has confirmed by week-long suspicion that it would. It's a short week for both teams which is typically good news for 'under' bettors, and the Giants are 1-5 O/U the last six times they've been on TNF. New York is also 3-12 O/U after covering the spread in their last game and has a 5-14 O/U run going in their last 19 on the road. Five of [...]

Wednesday September 24th Betting Action

I managed to get an easy win with my lone free play last night as Felix Hernandez's career struggles against the Jays continued and one crooked number was all we needed to push that total well over the 7 number. My two premium plays were looking good for a sweep as well at about 11:00 EST when it was 3-2 early on in the Giants/Dodgers game, but they combined for only one more run the rest of the way and it cost me a perfect night. It's back to the diamond for today's selections, so let's get right to them. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold Free Play Records MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post All Star Break: 45-42 (+$2659) CFL YTD: 6-8 (-$266) NCAAF YTD: 8-6 ATS (+$229)  NFL YTD: 4-6 ATS (-$557) Free MLB picks Houston/Texas Over 8.5 (+104) $300 to win $300 It's the last meeting between these two before a very long offseason for both franchises and after two straight 'unders' to start this series, I believe both offenses go out with a bang. First off, we've got a young pitcher in Lisalverto Bonilla making his third start for the Rangers this season and he's been a huge benefactor of run support so far. Texas has scored an average of 7.5/game with Bonilla on the hill and although that number is a bit skewed after the 12 they put up on LAA in his last start, I don't think anything he throws will fool this Astros lineup. Secondly, the Rangers have been playing some great baseball of late and they are 6-1 O/U the [...]

College Football Week 5 Early Thoughts

As I did with my NFL early thoughts piece, I thought I'd give you some of my early thoughts for this week's college football action as well. To start, this is going to be a week where we might see a decrease in action from the casual bettor as numerous ranked teams are off this week. The list is quite extensive as all of these teams I'm about to list are undefeated SU this year and taking this week off to recover: Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Marshall, BYU, Oregon, Arizona, Alabama and Mississippi State. A lot of those teams have big games on deck, including Oregon and Arizona playing one another, so look for action and the lines to move early and often this time next week. As far as this week's games go, there are still a few big games between some very good teams and to no one's surprise one of those is the Florida State/NC State game.  Florida State opened up as 23-point favorites but have since been bet down to -19 after they squeaked out an OT win on national television last week. However, unless I find some more conflicting info in the coming days, I don't agree with this move at all. Barring another stupid decision from Jameis Winston to keep him off the field, I expect the Seminoles to show up in full force this week and put a beating on this Wolfpack team. If this spread continues to drop, don't be surprised to see me have a write up on the Seminoles later this week. Other early leans I have this week as lines are starting to shift around are Stanford -7.5, Miami -7, and Oregon State +9 Miami [...]

NFL Week 4 Early Betting Thoughts

Starting this week, I thought it would be best to inform you guys about some of the early week information I'm scouring over for the upcoming NFL week and give you my thoughts on where I'm leaning early on. Tuesdays and Wednesday's are a great time to dive head-first into the upcoming week, so let's get right to it. TNF: NYG (+3.5) vs. Washington (-3.5); Total 45.5 Tough for me not to like the Giants here as they are 8-1 ATS against a division opponent on the road when coming off back-to-back home games. Eli and the rest of New York's offense really got it going last week against Houston and with a full preseason and almost a full month of regular season games under their belt now, this new system under OC Ben McAdoo should start to flourish. This is also the start of three road games against division rivals in four weeks for the Giants and if they can get off to a hot start and go 2-1 SU or better in those games, they'll set themselves up for a great stretch run to claim the NFC East. For Washington, the short week will hurt them a bunch here after that emotional game with the Eagles on Sunday and to have another division rival on deck a few days later puts them in a real tough spot here. Kirk Cousins has been great since taking over at QB, but with the Redskins being 1-5 ATS at home against a division opponent that's .333 or worse, I'm likely taking the points here. Sunday Action Teams yet to cover a spread There are four teams in the entire NFL that have yet to cover a [...]

Tuesday September 23rd Betting Action

Tough night all-around as my free plays managed to earn me a bit of dough with a split, but watching the Jets offense was frustrating beyond belief and they cost me my final NFL premium of Week 3. A 3-3 ATS week with NFL premium doesn't hurt as much when Week 2 finished with a 5-1 ATS mark, but I've already begun breaking down next week's games as I look to get back in the win column during Week 4. Tonight the only sport in town is MLB, so lets get right to the free selections. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts 'to win' on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold Free Play Records MLB Pre All Star Break: 101-107-13 (+$691) MLB post All Star Break: 44-42 (+$2359) CFL YTD: 6-8 (-$266) NCAAF YTD: 8-6 ATS (+$229)  NFL YTD: 4-6 ATS (-$557) MLB plays Seattle/Toronto Over 7 (+100) $300 to win $300 Toronto brought out their heavy bats to put on a show last night in the series opener, jumping out to a huge lead early and never looking back. It won't be nearly as easy against King Felix tonight, but Hernandez has had his share of rough outings in Rogers Centre during his career and I'm leaning on tonight being another one of those nights. In Hernandez's last six starts @ Toronto, he's got a 4-0 win, an 8-3 loss, a 1-0 loss, a 5-4 win, a 2-1 win and an 8-0 loss. This is a place where he's always struggled to find a consistent groove to latch on to and with the Jays looking to play spoiler this week, the pressure of the playoff chase will likely have [...]
