Sunday July 6th Betting Action

Thanks to the Astros imploding in the 7th inning, my 2-1 day turned into a 1-2 day in a hurry. If the Astros had come through it would have been a nice payday with the big dog, and even if Melky Cabrera is called safe at home in the 8th during the review I'd have had a better chance of cashing that total as well. Now that I've got that little rant out of the way, it's time to turn to today's action and there are a few later plays on the card that I like. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 87-91-11 (+$697) Colorado ML (+113) $200 to win $ $226 The Rockies got over the hump against the Dodgers yesterday as it was their first win in seven straight games against L.A. Colorado's bats finally woke up by putting eight runs on the board and offensively the Rockies are a streaky team. They get to face one of the weaker pitchers in the Dodgers rotation today in Josh Beckett and he;s a guy they've avoided for most of the series' with L.A. The lone time they did face Beckett the Dodgers righty got a no-decision in a 5-4 Rockies win and L.A actually has a 2-9 SU record in Beckett's last 11 starts against division opponents. I'm riding that run today as Colorado finds a way to finish this four-game set with a split. Toronto/Oakland Over 7.5 (-107) $321 to win $300 Tampa/Detroit Under 7.5 (-102) $306 to win $300 Both of these games fit into our methods here at DRock sports about chasing [...]

Saturday July 5th Betting Action

I was 0-1-1 with my plays yesterday as Miami couldn't find a way to come all the way back against the Cards and Colorado got mowed down by Kershaw once again. The Dodgers did do enough scoring to get me that push which limited the damage. It's on to the next one as always though, so let's get right to the picks for tonight's card. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 86-89-11 (+$967) MLB Plays Baltimore/Boston Over 9 (+110) "Game 2" $300 to win $330 This play is all about the double header strategy we have posted here at D Rock Sports after the Red Sox walked off with a 3-2 win in the 9th. Lester and Gonzalez both pitched well in that contest as there were strikeouts everywhere, but I don't think that will be the case tonight. I'm flip-flopping with the total here and although I do think there is some value in doing the same with Baltimore on the ML (+134), I have more trust in riding both offenses then I do with the Orioles trying to come out on top. Toronto/Oakland Over 7.5 (+111) $300 to win $333 Game 3 of this Jays/A's series fits another line of thought we like to talk about here at the site and that's going with 'overs' after two straight 'unders' or vice-versa. So far there hasn't been much offense in this series with two straight low-scoring games and that will change tonight. Mark Buehrle has come back down to earth a bit after his phenomenal start to the season and Toronto is 4-1-1 O/U the [...]

Friday July 4th Betting Action

It was a nice 2-0 sweep with my plays last night and as I hit my first play of the day in what feels like forever. I've managed to stay afloat with my other plays winning, but it was nice to get a perfect day in my pocket again last night. It's a much larger card today for this Friday, one I would like to wish my friends down south a very happy (and safe) 4th of July. I'm hoping to make your holiday weekend a little better with winners every day, starting with these plays tonight. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 86-88-10 (+$1167) MLB plays Miami ML (+136) $200 to win $272 Fading the Cardinals in their first game back at home after a long west coast road trip that saw them go 5-5 SU. But after two straight series against potential playoff opponents from L.A and San Fran, and two divisional series against the Pirates and Brewers up next, this is the definition of a sandwich spot for the Cards. LAD/Colorado Over 9 (-118) $354 to win $300 Kershaw no-hit the Rockies the last time he faced them yet we have a total of 9 tonight. Yes, I know playing in Colorado will add a run or 1.5 runs to the total compared to Dodgers stadium, but this is a total that everyone sees as way too high with Kershaw on the hill. Add in the no-hitter last time he faced this lineup and it's no wonder bettors are flocking to the low-side of this total. But when something seems too good to be [...]

Thursday July 3rd Betting Action

It was a shame my two underdogs (Texas and Colorado) couldn't hold on to early leads last night as if even one of them could have won it would have been a very good day. Instead it was a 2-2 night with those two dogs losing and my two totals coming in rather easily. Didn't win or lose a sent with my plays last night and with another small board tonight it's time to get right down to it. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 83-88-10 (+$549) MLB plays Arizona/Pittsburgh Over 7.5 (+100) $300 to win $300 This play fits the same line of thought I had with my two totals last night. The first two games of this series between the Diamondbacks and Pirates have both stayed under the total and it's time to flip the script. Arizona starter Brandon McCarthy has been giving up runs by the handful all year and Vance Worley only just returned to the majors because he was down fixing some mechanical issues. It's only a matter of time before he has one of those blowup games we were used to seeing from him when he was on Philadelphia and Minnesota. NYY/Minnesota Over 7 (+106) $300 to win $318 A Tanaka/Hughes start is no doubt going to get a lot of attention on the low-side of the total so it's no surprise to see over 90% of the bettors already getting down on this 'under.' However, although the juice has moved, odds makers have not shifted this number off the key number of 7 and I think that Hughes being [...]

Wednesday July 2nd Betting Action

Another losing day yesterday as my plays went 1-2 and yet another top play went down. It's been a horrible run with my top selections but thankfully they aren't doing too much damage to my bankroll with the other plays coming through. It's a short card tonight with a lot of games already going off this afternoon, but I have found a handful of strong plays out there for you. All lines taken from Pinnacle Sports with bet amounts "to win" on favorites and flat on underdogs Play of the Day in Bold MLB YTD: 81-86-10 (+$549) MLB plays Texas ML (+123) $300 to win $369 Significant reverse line movement on the Rangers as they try to save face in this series after losing the first two. They are sending a rookie Miles Mikolas to the hill tonight for his first career MLB start after making select appearances from the bullpen for San Diego the last few years. It will be the first time anyone on the Orioles have ever faced Mikolas and as I've said before the pitcher always has a distinct advantage in these situations. Colorado ML (+170) $200 to win $340 Another game with some significant line movement going the Rockies way as they try to avoid losing three in a row to the Nats as big underdogs. When I see movement like this on big underdogs I almost always have no problem jumping on for a unit or two because baseball is a game where even the best teams lose 40% of the time and the math just pays off when you can hit a few of these +170 dogs. Colorado starter Tyler Matzek is the only guy in the Rockies [...]
