Swept the board yesterday with my free picks as Madison Bumgarner and the Giants defense preserved an early 3-2 lead for the game to stay under. Detroit won in the NHL and the Bucks did their part by leading the majority of the game before blowing the lead late but covering the spread. Tonight it’s a large board of action with games in CFB, NFL, NHL and NBA and I’ve found a couple of free plays for you all tonight.

NFL Free Pick

New Orleans/Carolina Under 49.5 (-105) $210 to win $200

Although the Saints offense lit it up last week against Green Bay, I don’t trust them to do the same outdoors on a short week against a division rival. The winner of tonight’s game will be in 1st place in the NFC South with a .500 mark and although the season is only halfway done, the stakes are quite high here.

Last year the Panthers won 17-13 here at home thanks to two INT’s. I do think we will see more points than that tonight, but I don’t believe we will see 50+. The Panthers defense is starting to find their stride again after a grueling battle with the Seahawks last week and the Saints D looked quite good in that 2nd half vs. Green Bay. I know I’ve been burned many times this year ‘fading’ this prime time streak of ‘overs,’ but tonight’s a night I think we finally see a TNF game stay low. Nine of the last 11 games between these two teams in Carolina have stayed low and tonight should be 10 for 12.

NHL Free Picks

Colorado ML (-140) $420 to win $300

Vancouver ML (-135) $270 to win $200

If you’ve been following me all season on the ice, you’ll know that it’s not often that I lay chalk in this sport (similar to ML’s in MLB), but I couldn’t pass up these two plays tonight. Both of these teams are at home and in Colorado’s case have seen significant line movement in their favor.

The Islanders quite simply can’t keep the puck out of their net and that’s never a good thing when you’re on the road. Colorado is in desperate need of a win after they’ve lost eight of their last 10 overall and have been burnt in overtime or the shootout in their last two outings. This team is too talented not to turn it around in a hurry and I like their chances against a Islanders team with a weak defense.

Vancouver hosts Montreal and they are looking for their first win in their last four tries against the Habs. Montreal squeaked by against Calgary the other night, but they run into a much better Vancouver team tonight that’s won two in a row. The Habs are already looking ahead to their trip back home after tonight (where they get to play Calgary again) and after three straight losses to Montreal, Vancouver flips the script tonight.
