There’s no way to sugar coat yesterday’s disappointing day here at D Rock Sports as our premiums were shutout (0-3) and even my free play couldn’t get there. Those are the days that can really hurt you when you aren’t practicing proper money management because 0-fer days will happen and you can’t react emotionally and start betting over your head chasing your losses. I’m not looking to do that today, but I do have a couple of free plays on the diamond for you all.

Cincinnati/Baltimore Over 8 (+100) $200 to win $200

It’s rare to see the majority of bettors flocking to an ‘under’ in an Orioles game with the way they can mash the baseball and because of it I have no problem backing the high side of this total tonight. Reds starter Mat Latos has allowed 24 hits over 18 innings of work in his last three outings and that’s led to opponents putting 6 runs/game on him. Baltimore is by far the best hitting team of the bunch and we can’t forget about the Orioles 10-2-1 O/U record in their last 13 as a home favorite.

Finally, Baltimore starter Bud Norris hasn’t been sharp either of late as the O’s are 5-0 O/U in his last five starts. That means that the Reds will be able to pull their own weight in putting up runs tonight as this game should hit double digits.

Houston Astros ML (+148) $300 to win $444

Ah, C.J. Wilson is on the road again tonight and while that usually calls for an ‘over’ play based on his past, there is too much public money flooding that play. Instead what I’ve seen all day with this line is continual support for the Angels and Over tonight with the current betting percentages sitting at 80 and 93% respectfully. And while the total keeps seeing juice added to that 8.5 number, the side has actually moved in favor of Houston.

Now I’ve mentioned it many times about Wilson’s propensity to give up runs on the road so I won’t get into all the numbers again. Yet this game has another added factor that makes me love the Astros tonight and that’s the fact that they fired their manager on the off-day yesterday. It was no secret that Bo Porter and upper management didn’t get along, and shake ups like that almost always wake up the players of that organization to sharpen up and not be content with losing. This is their chance to beat a 1st place team while they try to impress the new boss and they won’t let it pass them by.
